Service Description: The State of the World's Sea Turtles (SWOT) team is devoted to leveraging the people-power necessary for sea turtle conservation to succeed. SWOT is a partnership among Oceanic Society, the IUCN Marine Turtle Specialist Group (MTSG), Duke University's OBIS-SEAMAP, Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Network (WIDECAST), and an ever-growing international team of local organizations, scientists, and conservationists. From its comprehensive database of seven sea turtles species, the nesting sites of six species - green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata), leatherback sea turtles (Dermochelys coriacea), loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta), Olive Ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea), Ridley's Kemp sea turtles (Lepidochelys kempii) - for the Gulf of Mexico only is presented in this map. This map shows the frequency of species per nesting site.
